Cheers, tears, laughter and happiness on this special wedding day.
Las Palabras: La Boda - the wedding; el Milagro - the miracle; Los permanentes - the permanent residents; La Novia, the bride; El Prometido, the fiance/groom
While I have been playing hooky from the blog I have been having the most amazing end of season in Yelapa saying goodbye to so many amigos, almost all leaving at the same time, and saying hello to some really old friends who are back in the pueblo after many years away from Yelapa. Otherwise we have all been waiting for the wedding of Jarrett, el prometido & Natalia, la novia, new parents to baby Ian. Suddenly the wedding was in the works after a year of "coming soon." If you know our pal, Jarrett, you know an air of spontaniety and/or vagueness often accompanies his announced plans. But this was it and the day lived up to our expectations which we have all been billing as the event of the year.
Pretty much everyone who is still in Yelapa attended - that is, those who are more or less permanentes. Everyone gathered with both the bride and groom's families and friends, and of course the baby, whom I have nicknamed "el milagro," to witness their vows, most lovingly blessed by Sam, Jarrett's long time partner who was a wonderful sight to see and hug once again. The bride, Natalia, always serene, was attended by members of her family. Jarrett's mom, sister and all of his Yelapa family were surrounding one of our oldest pals and his adored Natalia. It did get a bit weepy but ours were definitely tears of happiness for our friends.
While the vows were traditional and we cheered them both as the rings were exchanged, what followed was the Yelapa of old - a true potluck of food and drinks and cake brought and shared by everyone. So much conversation, so many hugs and kisses, so much laughter, so much love! Yelapa at its best, boldest, brightest, kindest, coolest. Yelapenses of all eras were present - people who have been here forty years, twenty years, five years and our new pals, Koda & Stephanie - everyone most welcome and gathered again as we have so many times surrounded by the beauty of Rancho Narranjo...Jarrett's first baby.
For those who could not be there and those who just want to look inside our crazy lives, enjoy the photo album, "The wedding." We laughed, we cried, we ate and mostly we wish them lasting love and I wish you all could have been with us....
Felicidades, Jarrett y Natalia y Baby Ian!
Como siempre, con abrazos!
Maria
Thank you so much, Maria, for those beautiful pictures! It was a great wedding, and I trust it will be a great marriage. What a couple of super terrific people, I love the way you say "Jarrett's first son". Ian is a real treasure.
